Twenty-five days on the road yields a bounty. Sifting through it takes some time. In this case, Birgit about to have lunch. An American photographer in Brugge, Belgium, shooting for a Finnish company, eating at an Italian restaurant. Makes as much sense as anything.

Two week before Paris-Roubaix and we were at the finish, the velodrome in Roubaix. Nobody else was there. And the sunset cast warm tones onto the grandstand.

Going Backwards

We spent Saturday driving the Paris-Roubaix course backwards, shooting b-roll on the uncrowded pavé sectors. Along the way we ran into all sorts of characters, including two aging Belgian ex-pros who’d posted up along the cobbles with their camper vans. They had the full set-up – flags, grill cooking fresh fish, and beer. In a mixture of French, Flemish, and English (me speaking English, them speaking Flemish and French) we managed to have some laughs. They seemed super excited to be standing in a rain soaked field along an old farm road in the middle-of-nowhere-France and I have to admit it wasn’t half bad.
